Collection of Personal Information

From 1 July 2026, the I Work for NSW Oracle Taleo Applicant Tracking System (iworkfornsw.taleo.net) (the Platform), is owned and administered by the NSW Department of Education (the Department) using the Oracle Taleo recruitment platform.

The Department uses Oracle Taleo (Oracle) as its service provider to administer the Platform. If you apply for a position advertised on the Platform, your information will be collected by the Department and stored and processed by Oracle on the Department's behalf.

Oracle may access, store and process your information on behalf of the Department, including outside Australia, in accordance with contractual arrangements with the Department and Oracle's privacy practices. By creating a profile or submitting an application through the Platform, you acknowledge that your personal information may be stored or accessed outside Australia in connection with the provision of the Platform.

What information is collected through the Platform?

If you choose to use the Platform to apply for employment with the Department, you will be asked to create a profile and provide information as part of the job application process. Information collected when creating a profile or a job application will form your profile in a database maintained by Oracle on behalf of the Department.

The information that may be collected includes:

• your name, address, telephone number and email address;
• information relating to your qualifications, employment history or education;
• resumes and supporting documentation;
• referee details;
• information relevant to your suitability for employment;
• information required for pre-employment screening, which may include health information;
• information required to undertake background checks and/or Working with Children Check information where applicable;
• information relating to work rights and eligibility; and
• other information required to assess your application for employment.

You may also be asked to voluntarily supply diversity information or information about accessibility requirements or workplace adjustments.

Why do we collect your information?

We collect and use your information to:

• create and manage candidate profiles;
• assess your suitability for employment;
• communicate with you regarding your application and future vacancies;
• undertake pre-employment screening, background and reference checks;
• consider you for other employment opportunities;
• administer and improve recruitment processes;
• undertake workforce planning and analytics; and
• comply with legal obligations.

Who may we disclose your information to?

Information collected through the Platform may be disclosed to:

• The Department, including staff involved in the recruitment process;
• Oracle, as the Department’s service provider;
• Your referees;
• Other NSW government departments or agencies; and
• Law enforcement agencies and other government bodies where authorised or required by law.

Oracle may be required to disclose information in its databases to third parties under laws of foreign jurisdictions, such as for law enforcement purposes.  For further information about our service provider's privacy obligations, please refer to the Privacy Statement on Oracle’s website available here.

Can you refuse to provide personal information through the Platform?

If you do not provide the requested information, the Department may be unable to assess your application, contact you or consider you for employment.

In addition, if you do not provide sufficient information for a background check to be undertaken for child-related employment, where required, you may not be able to be appointed to the position even if you are otherwise the preferred candidate.

Certain information, such as evidence of identity, work rights and Working with Children Check information, may be required by law or Department policy before employment can be offered or commenced. Other information requested as part of your profile or application is important to enable the Department to assess your suitability for employment.

Notwithstanding the above, the provision of information requested as part of your application is voluntary.

When creating your profile or making an application, you can choose not to provide diversity information without any consequences for the recruitment process.

If you do not provide the requested information, the Department may be unable to assess your application, contact you or consider you for employment.

In addition, if you do not provide sufficient information for a background check to be undertaken for child-related employment, where required, you may not be able to be appointed to the position even if you are otherwise the preferred candidate.

How can I access my personal information?

You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information held by the Department, subject to any applicable exceptions under law.
