Hume Public School is situated in Lavington, on Wiradjuri Country, along the New South Wales/Victorian border. With an enrolment of 183 students, the school proudly represents a diverse community, with 35% of its students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 16% coming from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect background.
The school offers mainstream classes for kindergarten through Year 6, along with a preschool and a Special Education Unit. This unit provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students in our Multi-Categorical (MC), Moderate/Severe Intellectual (IO/IS), and Early Intervention classes, all located within the grounds of the mainstream school. Staff members work collaboratively within the unit and alongside their mainstream colleagues to deliver inclusive and quality educational experiences and implement best practices.
Our staff fosters a culture of inclusion and positive relationships, believing that students thrive when they feel safe, connected, and supported in regulating their emotions and behaviour. Throughout the school, high expectations, active engagement in learning, and a sense of community are consistently promoted by our dedicated staff.
